What did a gangster wish for? What else? Fellow gangsters! Or, at least, lackeys, Justin mused. He rang the bell and clapped his hands, giving a bow. Yeah, his gang was decently sized, but Justin knew that for his own goals they'd have to get bigger and more organized. He would need people he could trust (a certain amount, there was only so much he could trust people) to lead smaller gangs. Start a real chain of command.
But he'd have to find people first, and as much as he liked his current gang, none of them were really set up to lead. Well, Sheska was, but she was already a leader. And he most certainly didn't want another one of her! Everyone would flee his gang like it was bringing the next apocalypse.
He reconsidered that last statement, since that just about was his plan. He gave a small smile and chuckle to himself.
Running a hand through his brown locks, he stepped back and gazed up at the shrine. He didn't know if he believed - really believed - but it never hurt to ask for some help getting what he wanted. It was definitely worth a shot. Another step back and he turned to the shrine grounds, thinking that he might spend another few minutes here. And he wouldn't set anything on fire, either. He'd be good because if you were asking a god to help you, it didn't do to displease them.
Howler was sitting nearby, having observed the ritual. "And what did you wish for?" Justin smiled at him. "That's a secret!" Howler gave a snort, but then something caught his attention and he went off, his white coat dragging along the ground, hat about to topple off his head (as per usual), and pointer drawing a line in the dirt beside him as he went off to take a look.

"In the rays of sun -- In the shadows of the night -- A man walks alone."
The Haiku poetry written on the spot was told off by a single entity covered by loads of cloth and traditional fabric. The amplifier on the branch of the large cherry blossom tree was well hidden behind the camouflage of wooden sheets, seeming like part of the tree branch and boding well with the unusually large amounts of beautiful, falling pink petals swaying in the gentle breeze. The background music was quite unique, but in truth was taken from the official soundtrack of the Anime series Shugo Chara, played through the amplifier - a track making the traditional Japanese scene seem much better in quality, even if in truth the heavily clothed man was the only man here. With his back to the shrine, he slowly and clearly raised his left foot until his knee was at its highest, then slowly put far from the other - placing him in a wide spreading.
"So legends tell. Ah- That man is, that man is, he is but one in the face of fate. BUT!!!"
With that strong shout, the man suddenly turned to reveal his face to the little creature innocently watching, showing a heavily make-upped face filled with purple linings around the eyes, a line descending from the chin, one across the nose, lipstick and a dot on the center of the forehead - while the rest of the face was painted completely white. If that wasn't enough, a very messy, huge red wig rested over his head as his expression imitated a sage. His puffy clothing was revealed to boast a blue, sleeveless coat over a green shihakusho, samurai gauntlets and geta wooden sandals. This sudden, bizarre appearance made the little Digimon squeal in fear as tears started forming in her eyes.
"H-Hiieeeee~!!"
She wanted to cower, but the sage actor could not let her, and striking a pose he yelled out to her - hands fully open, one extended out in-front of his face while the right in 45 degrees up to the right.
"Falter not!!"
At least he managed to make the little Moonmon try her best not to cry as she watches further the act her scary tamer pulled off. He leaned on the edge of his left gets shoe, raising slightly his right leg as he began hopping sideways as his speech continued. This was a very typical sage movement pattern, obviously he'd choose to do just that in a foolish yet somewhat humorous show for the young kids -- in this case, his Digimon.
"But, bu~t. There are times, there are times when that man stands accompanied. That time is, that ti~me i~s...!"
He then stopped hopping, his head moving as much as possible to the right, then up, then focusing back at the Moonmon. This was the end of his act.
"When he~ is followed by God's spirit!! ... ... What I'm saying is... " The wig was taken off as the pose was ceased after moments of complete silence by the two. Kaiki revealed that even below his huge red wig hid a couple of fake wolf ears, and as he smiled regularly at his young Digimon, she seemed to have lighten up, no longer looking scared in the face of the crazy dancer. This was almost perfect timing too, as the background theme stopped when he did. " We should try asking help from others from time to time. It's Japanese tradition to pray to god every new year's with a wish of the sort, but... We ought to try it out now too! Let's go Moonmon, to wish from God!!" " Y-Yeah~!!" It seemed she really was happier now that her master was finally speaking like a normal person again. It's a shame though, neither Kaiki or Moonmon were aware they were watched, at least from halfway the act.[/blockquote]

Howler was entranced by the performance. He began to clap his claws together and walked up to the actor. "Good show, young man! That was terribly inspiring! I was wondering, do you do this professionally or is it merely a rare street performance?" He hadn't ever seen anything quite like it and found that he was hoping to hear the boy did it regularly. Perhaps he would get to see one again!
Justin had also clapped for it and walked over, a bright smile on his face. He hadn't seen something like that in a long while. It had been a delightful performance, very entertaining. Inspiring. And the fact that it had been put on to apparently inspire a digimon got Justin thinking: He needed someone that could lead and rally the troops. To entertain and keep heart as well as keeping a firm hand. Perhaps his prayers might have been answered this day. "Gotta admit, that was pretty awesome. I've already prayed, myself, but it almost makes me want to go back a second time!"
He glanced at the Moonmon and gave a smile. "Does he do this sort of thing for you often?" He didn't want the digimon to feel left out of the conversation. Justin also knew that if he was going to have anyone join, they would need to be good masters as well. He had no place for those who were irresponsible or abusive - those ones tended to be so with their underlings, and Justin didn't have any of that. Ever.
(sorry it's short - not sure where to go with your post!)

... And just like that, there was suddenly another pair in the scene. Kaiki felt very slight embarrassment over the fact people watched him, as after all, it was his first time pulling an act like that. The main feeling inside now though, was obviously satisfaction, happy that the people that entered found his show amusing and even inspiring. It was exactly what he attempted to do, too, inspire his young partner to make a wish that is. Unbeknownst to him though, Moonmon was a pure, naive and innocent Digimon that is very easily influenced, so just saying the last part of his act could have been enough to convince her. The way that robed Digimon spoke though, Kaiki was more or less assuming that the lizard was acting himself, speaking in such a high-class fashion. He could almost paste a British accent to its speech. The man accompanying the Digimon (yes, it really looked to Kaiki like the Digimon was in charge this time) also looked pretty nice, and unlike his partner appeared to hold an idea of what it was. With these compliments, no matter how modest, who wouldn't feel superiority? He rubbed his nose in pride as he spoke.
"Yahahaha!! Thank you, thank you. But you know. I'm pretty new to this, it's a one-time performance, you're lucky to catch glimpse of it! And... You shouldn't go all needy and stuff on god you know, this is why we hold this ceremony only once a year."
In truth, Kaiki didn't really know if what he said was true, but this was his belief. People were supposed to deal with their own problems on their own, worshipping god and not depending on the superior entity. It is for this reason that aid alone is the only thing they could request, and not something bigger. Boasting his theory and having been watched already made the boy think, why not introduce himself if he could. These guys didn't seem bad at all, not bothered the least bit by the freaky performance or the Inumimi. Moonmon hopped to her master's side by bouncing on the ground, having no limbs to aid her in such.
"I'm Hinamori Kaiki Bellamy! This is my gorgeous partner, Moonmon. You can call me Kaiki, Bellamy or K."
"Nice to meet you."
He exclaimed, standing with his head high as the silent Digimon only smiled at the new characters that arrived. Kaiki had his wish ready, though he wasn't sure if the teardrop there had a particular one. Waiting a little on it shouldn't hurt anybody, socializing should be good with people who don't mind fanatic habits.
"So, who are you?"

Justin couldn't help but chuckle at the boy's statement that they couldn't go asking he gods for things all the time. They were gods, right? Though he wasn't particularly religious himself, he came around once in a while because it gave him a sense that perhaps he was getting some help with his goals. After all, he was getting remarkably lucky these days. Potential recruits and all that. Gaining power. It was... good. And he wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth - Inumimi or not, this boy had appeared when Justin had asked for more members and help with organizing his gang.
Howler enthusiastically introduced himself and his partner. "I'm Howler, and this is my partner Justin. I'm thrilled to make your acquaintance. I had not seen such a performance before and am immensely curious about the purpose of it. You see, with my studies on Digimon completed, I am now turning to studies on humans, and - " He was cut off at that point by Justin.
"And Howler is a little nosy, so please don't feel inclined to answer him if you don't want to. He's still in trouble for the last time he interrogated someone about human customs." He shot a little glare at Howler, and his digimon started to sulk because he'd been headed off at the pass. It changed to a bright, friendly grin for Kaiki. "It's our pleasure to meet the both of you, indeed. So what do you do most of the time, if you're not a street performer? Do you have a regular job? I'm self-employed, myself, which is why I have the time to mess around here on a day like this." He started feeling out the boy's potential, curious about whether he could be any use.

Funny little pair, weren't they. The way Howler spoke, so many words used, verbs and adjectives Kaiki wasn't entirely familiar with, he could almost see the text being typed at sonic speed as the Digimon spoke, more and more words added gradually to the thing's background. An awkward smile raised over his face, Kaiki could feel the need to escape from the clutches of the many words thrown at him for quite the good reason. He was really happy someone took so much interest in him, but... This really was a bit much. Slowly, he backed away, the Geta shoes making only the slightest shifting sound over the grass as his leg moved backwards. When suddenly the tamer seized control by slightly putting his partner to mockery, it was quite clear who really was the boss here, as the Digimon just left to sulk in the side, making Moonmon worried. She approached him by bouncing around (no other way of doing that), somewhat bending to see if he's still around.
"Are you okay?"
Kaiki started making his way towards the shrine, signing for the two guests and his dear partner to tag along. He was not going to pull any acts in the face of god, which would mean these guys will get to see another side of the boy, a side nobody ever gets to see. But he didn't think much about that, only letting his time with them pass peacefully. A good man, witty Digimon and an innocently adorable partner -- that would be Kaiki's current party.
"Pretty talkative, isn't he. Well, all in all, that's good too. As for me? I'm just a highschool student. Sixteen years old, you see... Anyways, what do you mean self-employed? Do you have like, a company or something?"
The word 'company' was pretty tricky; it lacked significant personal details and raised many ideas in the boy's head, the biggest being that Justin was some kind of lone supporter for Pandora, and thus held a Digimon -- simply because everyone holding them has to be connected to Pandora in one way or another. Whether he was or wasn't, Kaiki cared less. It wasn't the time to worry about such trivial matters, but the two were still chattering -- so why not just ask away?

Howler looked at the Moonmon. "I'm fine. This isn't unusual. I am apparently too curious for my own good." He studied his pointer, then looked back at the Moonmon. "Hey, would YOU like to know about what I've observed about human culture so far? I am by no means an expert, but I am working on an educational paper about them!" He looked at the other digimon hopefully. Howler's weakness was wanting to share what he knew about humans, and this seemed like a good student.
In the meanwhile, Justin was busy with Kaiki. "Yep, I'm self-employed. I do have a small company. It's small. We're in.... Urban redevelopment. We are trying to change things around town. And we employ anybody that's looking for a job and can pass the requirements." He gave a confident nod. Not everyone passes, but it's always interesting to see who can make the cut."
Of course, there was a chance the boy would think he was talking about Pandora. HAH! Justin had no ties to Pandora. He was a lone wolf, a DigiDestined that had no interest in protecting the digital world. All set to destroy it, in fact, if he was given half a chance. That was enough for him.

Howler could not find a more perfect student to teach, mainly because this particular Moonmon had never been to the Digital World and more or less grew under the care of a human. For her to learn more about the kind of her single 'parent', that would be pleasurable indeed. Just as expected, she seemed enthusiastic about it, appreciating deeply the fact this nice professor decided to grant her some of his time. With a pure smile only a child could give and a high-pitch voice almost like a squeal of happiness, she gave her obvious reply. Unfortunately though, it didn't look like Kaiki would grant her all the time she needed to learn about that analysis of his. Still, if she got the chance, happily she'd follow to listen to Howler's theories.
"Waaah, really? Then, of c--"
"Moonmon, we're here!"
"Ah, yes!!"
No worries here. Obliviously, the young Moonmon hopped around quickly, meeting with her partner at the shrine's second level of wood, then imitating her partner's gesture (as much as possible, for their physiology was so much different from one another). It was time to lay down a wish to god, like her dear master told her earlier. This too was a part of human culture, wasn't it? Then it was only suiting for her to gleefully perform such a task; after all, as a young child, Moonmon was still learning about her parent's ways.
"(Ummm... Dear god? I'm new here! Hello! Ummm... I can only wish for now... Please watch K-sama further. Thank you.)"
So this guy worked in an urban company, huh? Interesting. Hardly any companies nowadays had zero connections with Pandora, though the fact he was lingering here instead of in his office made Kaiki look upon Justin with a rather different impression. If he's the boss, clearly he should be the most busy amongst his workers. Then again, Tousen -- Kaiki's dad -- was a boss of the sort too, and also had some free time here and there, which he mostly used for his promising son, loved wife and fellow friends. Basically, the carefree father when outside of work. If only a relation could be hinted on, it would be quite obvious who Kaiki got his enthusiasm and determination from. For the while though, the boy had a talk with someone entirely different.
"Heeeh... An urban company boss, huh."
He let out a sigh of interest, his tone raising in acknowledgement. An expression rarely used, though not by this particular kid. Soon he took interest, simply because 'changing things around town' is too much of a misty phrase. Kaiki couldn't see why would he prefer to hide his occupation, but could at the very least respect such.
"As in, buildings or whatnot? Tokyo's a pretty developed city you know, I can't see too much to add to its progress besides abnormal stuff. You know why Pandora succeeds so much, right? It's because their concept is brand new to the entire world, kinda like aliens. It's only natural. Though... What requirements are you looking for anyway?"
Kaiki didn't have too much time to listen to Justin's answer, as before he noticed their little party had already arrived at the shrine. Upon seeing this, he removed his wolf ears and tail and stuck them inside his complex attire, showing his respect to the gods by coming to them not in his best, preferred show but in a modest and truthful figure. He then skipped a little quicker to a sink near, washing his face and removing the makeup on his face. It was time to make his wishes.
"Sorry, this will only take a moment. Wait here please. Hey! Moonmon, we're here!"
"Ah, yes!!"
The tamer awaited his Digimon partner on the second level of wood of the shrine, watching the funny-looking one bouncing on the ground skimpishly in attempt to reach quicker. It seemed to work, though Kaiki couldn't help but wonder if this inconvenience she's experiencing would sometime stop. After all, being just a head with an extension must be some trouble. Once the other came to his grounds, the boy rang both bells (as the other physically couldn't do that), clapping his hands and then getting down on his knees in a traditional manner. His eyes were shut and his hands joined, he made his wish.

Howler was more than a little put out when Moonmon was so intrigued by the shrine. Well, this was a part of human culture as well, and he had observed it in addition to everything else, so.... He followed Moonmon's example, his scholar's cap sliding to a place where it was a miracle it hadn't dropped off his head. After it, he turned towards Moonmon, and as their masters spoke started on his little lecture on peopl. "Now my primary observations have been on human courtship, and..." He blabbered on and on about what he knew, only stopping to take deep breaths.
----------------------
Justin answered the boy's questions. "Even in a city such as Tokyo, the -" He was interrupted by the boy's request to give him a moment. He gave a smile, watching as Howler went to do it with him. Howler had found a student willing to listen to him wax on about humans (and god knew what his observations were - Justin had a feeling he didn't want to know), and that meant he'd stick closely to Moonmon's side.
Justin waited respectfully until the boy completed his ritual, curious about how he had come to work in the shrine. Perhaps his family owner it? He glanced about himself suspiciously, wondering if he could get in trouble with the God for recruiting someone who might be a holy man. There didn't seem to be any immediate dangers, so Justin decided to continue with his charade.
"Even in a city as built-up as Tokyo, businesses go out all the time, and things still age. They need old buildings and installations torn down, so they can be rebuilt into more functional areas. That is where my crew and I come in. We do the tearing down. For a fee, of course. In that way, I suppose we're a lot like Pandora - getting rid of the old so that the new can go in." He had to resist the urge to shudder with disgust. Justin didn't care for Pandora. At all."
He glanced at Kaiki to see if the boy was taking it in at all. He was so.... out there, so focused on other things. With all that distraction, he'd be a liability to the group. Justin needed someone who could focus on the here and now, who might even have an interest in it. He could sense no interest here.
The gods had played a cruel trick on him. He glanced up with a wry smile. That was what he got for only being partially sincere in his prayers! Half-measures indeed. "This is a nice place you have. If you ever need something done with it, my company would be happy to help out." And get some revenge for this little karmic trickery. Even Gods could get burned right back.
