OTHER INFORMATION
The daughter of a hostess and an absentee father, Ayaka has spent the majority of her life trying to find purpose in her existence. While Ayaka seems like a cheerful and well-adjusted kid, she's actually had to go through a lot of scrapes before now. Her mother was young and immature, a college flunkie who hostessed at a dingy bar just to make ends meet. She didn't even know she was pregnant until she was already two months in. Her first instinct was to abort the baby, but then she decided to make her boyfriend – Ayaka's father – marry her. They were engaged up until Ayaka was almost a year old. Then he just left. As Ayaka grew and began to ask questions, Ayaka's mother began to put the blame on her very needy daughter.
If only she had been a good girl, she said.
If only she didn't cry, she said.
If only you could have listened, she said.
Well, as you might imagine, all her mother's blame put a hefty weight on Ayaka's heart. And it didn't help that Ayaka had trouble behaving. When given a set of commands, Ayaka could not really understand what was being said to her. When someone was speaking, Ayaka would constantly interrupt them. She's rude, her teachers said. She can't focus, they said. She keeps hurting her friends, they said.
Ayaka didn't know what to do. Every time she tried to be good and listen she felt incredibly uncomfortable. Sitting still was painful for her; she had to wiggle her toes or stretch her legs or speak or look at something or look at everything. Or else...well, she didn't know what else. Little Ayaka was just plain uncomfortable, and going home to a mother like hers didn't make her any more cozy.
Eventually her teachers began to look past her poor behavior and began to notice other things: her dirty clothes, her lack of a proper lunch, and some interesting bruises that sometimes appeared on her lower arms that were strangely long and thin like fingers. After a while strange men who weren't police men but who were still important told Ayaka that she had to go live with her grandma and grandpa. Ayaka didn't mind, because she thought her mommy was going with her. Then Ayaka found out mommy couldn't go with her. Mommy was gone. Mommy didn't want to see Ayaka any more, either.
Ayaka was completely broken-hearted, but eventually the love of her grandparents soothed her pain. Ayaka began to learn what love – true, whole love – was, and she began anew at another school. There, the teachers also noted her poor behavior; they were also aware that perhaps it wasn't Ayaka's fault. By the time Ayaka entered middle school she was diagnosed with ADHD, hyperactive type. She was supposed to go on medication, but her grandparents were not happy about the idea of giving their granddaughter drugs. Instead, her grandmother began to find alternative ways for Ayaka to deal with her ADHD. Extracurricular sports, herbal teas, yoga, and flower arranging were various ways that her grandmother tried to channel Ayaka's extra energy. Flower arranging became Ayaka's favorite hobby to focus on; it was never boring, because depending on what flowers you get you have an infinite number of combinations.
When Ayaka was fifteen she grew interested in Pandora and digimon. Ayaka applied for a D-Touch as a Pandora fighter... and was rejected. Not one to give up, Ayaka constantly sent in applications just to be rejected time and time again. Ayaka was about to give up her dream of being a tamer when she received a strange text message four months ago from an anonymous sender. The first text message asked: Are you ready for adventure, Ms. Ochii?
[/i] Ayaka just thought a friend was sending her a practical joke, or perhaps a pervert had gotten ahold of her number. Jokingly, she texted back, I'm always ready for an adventure! ^___^[/i]If only she had been a good girl, she said.
If only she didn't cry, she said.
If only you could have listened, she said.

From then on Ayaka had unwittingly enlisted herself into the service of a mysterious boss who later introduced themselves as K, the leader of a group called CHESS. K promised Ayaka she could have her own digimon, and even the location of her mother... both extremely tempting offers Ayaka could not refuse. In return, Ayaka offers her time as an agent for K by investigating Pandora as well as other instances of digimon coming into our world. K was able to procure Ayaka's digimon and D-Touch by hacking into Pandora's systems, edited her last submitted application, and got her approved. Ayaka operates using a Pandora-issued D-Touch, but the D-Touch itself is not registered to an Ayaka Ochii but to a completely fabricated identity in case Pandora does track down Ayaka.
Through her work with K, Ayaka has determined that K is more or less a person she can trust. Though Ayaka is wary of K's uncanny ability to seem as though they can see and know everything, she has happily put herself at the anonymous leader's disposal.
